The project scope included:  

  • Consultation with community stakeholders to introduce the project;
  • Establishment of a Project Steering Committee;
  • Organisation and chairing of the Project Steering Committee meetings, in consultation with the Project Manager;
  • Facilitation of the approval of the beneficiary list by the community and the City of Cape Town;
  • Establishment and chairing of ongoing community meetings in order to give feedback about developments in the project and encourage community participation in the process;
  • Community education;
  • Understanding the applicable housing policies and types of housing subsidies;
  • Ongoing dispute resolution by involving community leadership to assist in matters of claims ownership;
  • Facilitation of the housing subsidy application process;
  • Allocation and handover of houses.
