Umtha has the capacity and expertise of conducting Research Projects, such as Socioai??i??economic surveys; Perception surveys and health related studies.

  • STUDY ON THE CONTRIBUTION OF HOME ECONOMICS IN AGRICULTURE IN ENSURING FOOD SECURITY FOR THE RURAL FARM FAMILIES.Ai??Research Study conducted in six Provinces contracted by the National Department of Agriculture.
  • SOUL CITY Institute for Health and Development Communication
    Conducting focus group research and development of ETD material forAi??Information Booklets for adult and pediatric patients (separately) and a Facilitators Workbook on antiretroviral treatment.Ai??This involved conducting focus group research in Hospitals, Clinics and NGOs that are receiving PEPFA funding for HIV and AIDS in six provinces.
  • FORMATIVE FOCUS GROUP RESEARCH FOR VARIOUS HEALTH SERIES DEVELOPED BY SOUL CITY.
    Our involvement entailed:

    • Recruitment of participants for focus group discussions according to the criteria set out in the relevant research brief.
    • Run and record the focus group discussions using free attitude interviewing technique using the pre-agreed upon schedule, or using a pre-testing methodology as per brief.
    • Transcribe and translate the focus group discussion verbatim
    • Submit the focus group transcript electronically within the agreed upon time frame

  • EVALUATION OF THE FASFACTSai??i?? FETAL ALCOHOL SYNDROME PREVENTION CAMPAIGNS IN SELECTED COMMUNITIES WITHIN THE WESTERN CAPE PROVINCE

The primary aim of this evaluation was to determine the impact of the FASfacts programmes in bringing about awareness and a real decrease in the incidence of FAS in selected communities within the Western Cape Province. Specific objectives were:

  • to document and measure the implementation of the FASfacts programmes by establishing the extent to which the content of the programme and the way in which the programme has been presented to children and adults was relevant and appropriate;
